La Palma in pictures, part 3
And the final week of our vacation:
Exploring the north of the island.
Of course we had to visit the highest peak:

This is also where the observatory is. Unfortunately, they were open for visitors one day after we flew back home. Needless to say Martijn was very disappointed. The view from the top over the island and the clouds below was beautiful!

Another day we hiked from our house to a cave, along almond orchards and the amazing dragon trees.

Another incredible hike was along the north coast. On the left you can see the path zig-zagging down. Very steep and tiring, but well worth it.

We followed a dry riverbed to the ocean. It ended with a (dry) waterfall. If you wanted to get to the water you had to crawl along the cliff to a wood-and-stone construction. Martijn of course had to go. Bram and I were happy just enjoying looking at the water from above. Give Bram a stick and a few rocks and he is a very happy little man!

We also visited the north-east side of the island, where the fairytale forests are. They are very hard to capture in a picture... We made friends in that forest with this little fellow who loved almond-cookie-crumbs.

Along the coast there are some natural swimming pools in the rocks. When the ocean is wild the water can splash into the pools like this!

While showing you our second casita in my previous post, I forgot to mention the bedroom, which was 'hanging' in the house like this:

We also found out to our surprise that Bram loves lemons!
He was mad when we didn't figure out soon enough that he was NOT pointing at the mashed potatoes or the carrots or the fish, but at the lemon!

But to prove that he still is a normal kid, he also very much enjoyed his first lollypop...
